Adoration Chapel
For many years the chapel of the former convent of the Sisters of Mercy on the St. Joseph School campus was used for adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. Unfortunately that structure deteriorated and became a health hazard so the adoration chapel was relocated to the Day Chapel in our Parish Hall across the street from the rectory. This chapel is dedicated to St. Dominic, founder of the Dominican order of priests and nuns and our parish is fortunate to have two women from our parish solemnly professed as members of the Nashville Dominican order of nuns.
All of the furniture and statues from the convent chapel were moved to the new location and the area was painted and a new floor put in place. We would also like to express gratitude to everyone who generously donated to make this renovation possible.
Anyone is welcome to visit our chapel for adoration or daily Mass and we encourage you to do so. The chapel has it's own secure entrance so if you would like to visit the chapel please call the office for an access code. While self-exposition was at one point allowed, that is no longer the case. Exposition and Adoration, as a solemn ritual, is not meant to be a private and personal thing. The previous set up was also not properly secured according to the Church's requirements. If you would like to know more about why this change was made, please read the article from the bulletin of June 7, 2020 and the article here: peekabootabernacle.wordpress.com/. We will find an appropriate use for the previous tabernacle, probably as part of the Holy Thursday adoration that usually takes place in the Church during the Sacred Triduum.
In order for people to still have regular access to Exposition and adoration, we will now offer adoration every Wednesday afternoon, starting June 17. As interest grows, we can expand to more regular hours of adoration. If you are interested in volunteering as a regularly scheduled adorer, please speak with Mary Bourgeois or call the office.
Also, we will continue the First Friday devotion with from 7:30am the Thursday before to 11:45am Friday in the Chapel.
